let's see the origin meaning of these two words:
即使 = "although", more likely: if (the following thing) came true, blah blah blah.
哪怕 = "although", more likely: don't dare/don't matter (the following things) will happen, blah blah blah.
Therefore 哪怕 is much sharper than 即使 in daily conversation
即使 can be widely used in written form, 哪怕 is sort of northern dialect.
